About

U District Advocates

Mission
Keep the U District unique as the most walkable, livable, and innovative urban center in Seattle, where the benefits of density are magnetic.

About
We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit group of neighbors of our U District community, representing diverse residents, students, merchants, property owners, workers, commuters, and visitors. Funding for our efforts is entirely from generous grants and individual donations. Please help us by volunteering or donating what you can.

Vision
The U District is now a prime destination to gather, meet friends and have a unique neighborhood experience. Our urban center is rapidly being transformed by the recent rezone to high-rise development and the opening of our U District light rail station, located one block from our main shopping and entertainment avenue and two blocks from the University of Washington campus. This station now records the highest daily riders of any station in Seattle. We aim to create a network of public space for these 24,000 daily commuters, the 23,000 current neighbors, and the projected 7,000 new residents to the neighborhood.

We are committed to making the U District more livable, vibrant and fun for all people who live, work, go to school or visit the neighborhood.  Come join us!
